BACKGROUND
The works involved defending an extension of time claim for a private housebuilder, from a major contractor on infrastructure works for a housing scheme. In order to establish the delay, we were provided with the tender programme and in the absence of a construction phase programme we reset the tender programme to align with contract commencement and completion dates (Baselined). We then evaluated the programme delay using Time Impact analysis on each of the relevant events. The quantum was evaluated using site information provide by contractor, Contract Administrator and Client.
BRIEF
Independently review the delay to the planned completion date by a Major Civil Engineering Contractor and their entitlement to an extension of time to Infrastructure Works.
RESULTS
The contractor’s delays were reduced from 51.6 weeks to 30.6 weeks and we then reduced the prolongations cost by £700,000.00.
